FAQ

Where do you offer local delivery?

We deliver locally free of charge on all orders over £15 to the following postcodes: M41, M33 & M32. Anything below this will incur a £2.00 delivery fee.

Orders for same day delivery must be made by midday and will be delivered from 2pm onwards.

Orders placed after 12pm on a Friday or over the weekend will not be delivered until the following Monday (excluding bank holidays).

Please ensure that someone is available to accept delivery and provide your telephone number when placing your order.

How much is mainland delivery?

We currently deliver to UK mainland only and orders are delivered by our overnight courier DPD at a cost of £5.99.  Delivery is free of charge for orders over £50 (after any vouchers or discount codes). We aim to process and deliver orders within 48 hours and by next working day on orders placed before 12pm.

Orders placed after 12pm on a Thursday or over the weekend will not be delivered until the following Tuesday.

Alternatively you can choose a delivery date when you click on ‘view cart’.

Cheeses are cut fresh to order, wrapped and packaged by hand and we deliver Tuesday to Friday.

When placing your order, please provide a telephone number in your order for DPD to send you a delivery time slot.

What happens if the item I have orderd is out of stock?

Whilst we strive hard not to include substitutions on our orders, sometimes it is out of our control and on rare occasions, it may be necessary to include substitutions. Should this be necessary we will always attempt to contact you beforehand and will always endeavor to substitute as close to the original product as possible. If you would not like to receive substitutions, please leave a note at checkout.

How will my order arrive?

Cut cheese will arrive in special waxed paper to keep your cheese in optimum condition. Orders delivered by DPD will be carefully packed in recyclable cardboard boxes and kept cool with ice packs. Please place all cheese in the fridge as soon as possible upon receipt.

For local delivery, your cheese will be kept cool in an insulated bag during transportation and will be hand delivered to you. Please make sure someone is available to accept delivery.

Please place all cheese in the fridge immediately upon receipt.

How should I care for my cheese?

Please keep your cheese in the waxed paper provided and refrigerate upon receiving, ideally in a sealed container towards the bottom of the fridge in order to provide the best temperature for your cheese and reduce the risk of it absorbing strong flavours from other items in the fridge.

When you are ready to use your cheese ensure you remove it from the fridge with plenty of time for it to rest at room temperature. We would recommend at least 1 hour beforehand.

How long will my cheese last?

As a rule of thumb, we recommend consuming all cut cheeses within 7 days to experience them at their best, after this they will usually be fine to eat but smaller pieces may start to dry out. Hard cheeses will obviously keep for longer than soft cheeses. Individual whole cheeses will be marked with best before or use by dates. Any cheese that has a ‘use by’ date rather than a ‘best before’ date should not be consumed after the date stipulated.

Can I eat cheese if I am pregnant?

The NHS guidelines suggest that pasteurised and unpasteurised hard cheeses such as cheddar, gruyere and parmesan are safe to eat as are pasteurised semi-hard cheeses such as edam and pasteurised soft cheeses without a white rind such as mozzarella, feta and halloumi. Soft or blue cheeses are also ok as long as they have been cooked until steaming hot.

Cheese to avoid during pregnancy are any that are made from unpasteurised milk such as soft ripened goat’s cheese, pasteurised and unpasteurised mould-ripened soft cheeses with a white coating (bloomy rind) on the outside such as brie, camembert and chevre and pasteurised and unpasteurised soft blue cheeses such as danish blue, gorgonzola and roquefort. This is because there is a small chance that these cheeses are more likely to allow the growth of a bacteria called listeria which can cause an infection called listeriosis. Listeriosis infection during pregnancy can be harmful to your unborn child.

If in doubt about any of our cheeses please just ask and we will happily advise.

Can I eat the rind?

Unless the rind is made up of something like wax or cloth, which is inedible, cheese rinds are perfectly fine to eat and indeed, the rind often enhances the flavor of a cheese. However, this is very much down to personal choice as to whether you want to eat it or not.

My order is a gift, can I leave a message?

Yes of course. Please leave your gift message in the notes section at checkout and we will ensure the message is enclosed upon delivery.
